Wedgwood Travelling Exhibition at Glanmore National Historic Site
BELLEVILLE –The City of Belleville’s Glanmore National Historic Site, part of the community services department, is hosting a travelling exhibit featuring Wedgwood ceramics with Canadian motifs.
Beyond Blue and White: Wedgwood Designed for Canada is created and circulated by the King Heritage & Cultural Centre. The exhibit highlights pieces collected by Keith Alwyn McLeod (1955-2014). He acquired the ceramics over his lifetime, amassing what is arguably now the most complete collection of Canadian-themed Wedgwood in existence.
Think you already know about Wedgwood? Beyond Blue & White: Wedgwood Designed for Canada may give you a new perspective. The exhibit explores the growth of Wedgwood and its expansion into the North American market and includes over 50 unique ceramic pieces, showcasing landscapes, heraldry, souvenirs, history, commemorative tributes and more. Canadian artists who worked for Wedgwood and different types of ceramics are also profiled.
Beyond Blue & White: Wedgwood Designed for Canada will be on display at Glanmore National Historic Site, 257 Bridge St. East, from Jan. 21 to April 13 and is included in regular general admission.
