Our education programs are designed to support the learning objectives of the Ontario curriculum through inquiry-based learning practices. A variety of programs are offered for school visits throughout the year. Custom programs can also be developed.

VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS AT GLANMORE 1.5 hrs. – Guided Tour/Craft Activity Glanmore is decked for the season! Step into a snapshot of Christmas Past to learn about how celebrations have changed over time. Share family traditions and learn about special ways we celebrate the holidays in this exploration of an 1890s Christmas in Belleville. Students will also make an ornament to take home!
SIMPLE MACHINES Tour Glanmore to see gears, pulleys, levers, and other simple machines at work! Hands-on exploration and a series of fun challenges using historic household tools and equipment will demonstrate timeless scientific principles and encourage students to discover how and why simple machines work.
QUILTED CREATIONS Explore the exhibit of heritage quilts on display at Glanmore to discover how quilters use colour, shape, and repetition to create their artistic patterns. In this program that combines visual arts, math and social studies students will discover the form and function of quilts, examine historic patterns, use simple shapes to create a paper quilt and participate in a quilting bee!
GARDEN GAMES Play is universal! Bring your students for a day of historic games and activities. Tour the historic house to find ways that people of the past liked to play, learn about traditional toys and games, and try them out for yourself. This program includes active play outdoors. Indoor games will be substituted during inclement weather. HISTORIC HOUSE TOURS
Historic House Tours are geared for students in grades 5-8, as well as for students in secondary and post-secondary programs and can be tailored to meet a wide range of curriculum needs. |
