Learn to Preserve Family Heirlooms with Glanmore National Historic Site

handling objectsThe City of Belleville’s Glanmore National Historic Site is helping people learn to preserve and protect their family heirlooms.
“Preserve and Protect” a special event held at Glanmore National Historic Site on Saturday, October 21 encourages the public to show their off their family treasures while discovering ways to ensure their long-term preservation.
Local heritage professionals will be prepared to answer questions, give advice and demonstrate how to best care for personal treasures such as furniture, books, ceramics, metal objects, framed art, documents, photographs, quilts and clothing. A selection of conservation materials to aid in preservation will be available for sale.
This is the second time that Glanmore has offered this event. During the 2016 event advice was given on how to care for an 100 year old wedding dress, a silver tea set, a prize winning crochet blanket, an oil painting, quilts, photo albums, diaries and more.
Preserve and Protect will take place at Glanmore National Historic Site, 257 Bridge Street East, Belleville on Saturday, October 21 from 1 to 4 pm.  Regular museum admission applies to this event.  For more information visit www.glanmore.ca or call 613-962-2329.
