Stephanie Clue grew up in Belleville and remembers taking school trips to Glanmore National Historic Site when she was younger. She has an Advanced Diploma in Journalism from Loyalist College and is currently completing her placement at the museum for the Public Relations and Event Management program at Loyalist.
She will be spending the month of April with us, learning about the museum and helping with the museum’s social media presence.
We asked Stephanie a few questions about her internship and career aspirations to get to know her a little better:
Q: Why did you want to do your internship at Glanmore National Historic Site?
A: I wanted to do my internship at a smaller organization, to get first-hand experience working with social media and public relations. Glanmore National Historic Site seemed like the perfect place, because I visited here on school trips as a kid, but I never realized there was so much more to the house!
Q: What kind of work does your internship involve?
A: The main focus of my internship is to assist the museum with its public relations and social media outlets. I’ve been able to post some fun pictures on social media already about all of the behind-the-scenes things that go on at the museum that the public might not know about. The first week was very exciting since it was the first time I had been in a museum during a power outage. The staff members were all calm and I was able to get a private flashlight tour of the first floor of the museum, an experience I’ll definitely remember!
Q: Where will you go after your internship?
A: I would really like to work in the communications field after I’m done my internship, and I’m actively looking for jobs. For the short term, I would like to stay in the area in order to save as much money as possible before possibly relocating for a job. In the long-term future, I’d like to experience different places for work. Before that, I’ll take some time to regroup and look at my options.
